ASP Secures Financial Lease with AVIC International Leasing for Four New Chemical Tankers
Shanghai, China – Asia Pacific Shipping (ASP) and AVIC International Leasing Co., Ltd. (AVIC Leasing) have completed the signing of a financial lease agreement covering four 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers.
The signing ceremony was held at AVIC Leasing’s office in Shanghai, marking an important step in the cooperation between ASP and AVIC Leasing and supporting ASP’s ongoing fleet development programme.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both organisations. Representing AVIC Leasing were Mr. Yu Daoyuan, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Zhu Jiafeng, General Manager of the Shipping Subsidiary. Ms. Luong Ha, Head of Shipping at ASP, represented Asia Pacific Shipping at the ceremony.
Supporting ASP’s Fleet Development
The financial lease agreement provides ASP with a financing structure to support the development of four new 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers.
The addition of these vessels is part of ASP’s broader approach to fleet development and diversification. Investment in specialised chemical tanker tonnage will strengthen the company’s presence in the chemical shipping segment and expand its ability to serve international customers with modern and specialised vessels.
For ASP, the cooperation with AVIC Leasing also demonstrates the importance of strong financial partnerships in supporting long-term shipowning and fleet development.
Expanding ASP’s Chemical Tanker Fleet
The four new vessels will add specialised stainless steel chemical tanker capacity to ASP’s growing fleet.
Chemical tankers require specialised vessel design, cargo-handling capabilities and operational standards to safely transport a wide range of chemical cargoes. The investment therefore complements ASP’s existing experience in operating tankers and supports the continued development of its capabilities in specialised maritime transportation.
The project is also aligned with ASP’s broader strategy of building a diversified fleet across oil, chemical, gas and dry bulk segments, enabling the company to participate in different areas of international maritime trade.
Strengthening Financial and Maritime Partnerships
The cooperation between ASP and AVIC Leasing reflects the role of financial partnerships in supporting investment in new maritime assets.
By combining ASP’s shipowning and commercial capabilities with appropriate financing solutions, the agreement provides a foundation for the development of additional modern tanker tonnage.
ASP values long-term cooperation with financial institutions, shipyards, technical partners and commercial partners as it continues to develop its fleet and strengthen its position as a Vietnamese shipowner serving international markets.
Building a More Diversified Fleet
ASP continues to expand and modernise its fleet through vessel acquisitions and newbuilding projects.
The company’s fleet development covers multiple vessel segments, including oil tankers, chemical tankers, gas carriers and bulk carriers. This diversified approach provides ASP with greater flexibility in responding to different market opportunities while supporting the long-term development of its shipowning platform.
The addition of four stainless steel chemical tankers represents another step in this process, strengthening ASP’s capabilities in the specialised chemical tanker segment.
Looking Ahead
ASP will continue to pursue opportunities that support the development of a modern, diversified and efficient fleet.
Through disciplined investment, experienced maritime professionals and long-term partnerships, ASP aims to strengthen its capabilities across shipowning, commercial operations and technical management while creating lasting value for its customers, people and country.
The cooperation with AVIC Leasing marks another step in ASP’s ongoing fleet development journey and supports the company’s long-term ambition to build a strong Vietnamese shipowning platform serving global markets.
